A cash register system designed specifically for hair salons

With Friseur-Registrierkasse, we have developed a standalone cash register solution specifically tailored to the needs of hair salons and their day-to-day workflows.

Unlike general-purpose POS systems, the software has deliberately been streamlined and optimised to focus on the functions that hair salons actually need. The result is a fast, clear and easy-to-use POS solution for sole proprietors as well as larger salons with several employees and workstations.

Intelligently combining a desktop POS application with an online system

A distinctive feature of Friseur-Registrierkasse is its combination of a local desktop application and central server-based infrastructure.

The cash register itself runs as a standalone desktop program and therefore does not depend on a web browser. At the same time, relevant data is stored centrally on the server and synchronised continuously.

This combines the speed and stability of a traditional local cash register with the benefits of a centrally managed online system.

Centralised data storage and real-time synchronisation

Products, services, prices, employees and sales data are managed centrally and synchronised across the connected systems.

This allows several workstations to use the same cash register instance simultaneously. Changes to products or prices are immediately available on the connected devices.

The central server infrastructure also enables automatic data backups and makes replacing hardware considerably easier. If a cash register device needs to be replaced, the relevant cash register data is not stored solely on the failed device.

Flexible hardware instead of expensive specialised devices

Particular attention was paid to keeping hardware requirements low during development.
Friseur-Registrierkasse can be used on a range of systems, including:

standard PCs and laptops
compact mini PCs
touchscreen systems
POS terminals
existing hardware

No proprietary or particularly powerful specialised hardware is therefore required. Existing devices can often continue to be used, while various preconfigured hardware options are available for new installations.

Central partner portal

In addition to the cash register itself, we developed a browser-based partner portal.
Salon owners can use it to access important business information from any location and, among other things:

view current sales figures
track sales throughout the day
evaluate employee performance
analyse product sales
manage products and prices
edit categories
access reports and statistics
download reports relevant to taxation

Changes are synchronised with the POS system and are therefore also available directly at the respective checkout workstation.

A separate account for the tax adviser

A separate tax adviser account is another component of the system.
It allows the required sales and tax data to be made available directly, without the salon having to export and forward this data manually on a regular basis.
This reduces the administrative workload for both the hair salon and its tax adviser.

Automated processes around the cash register

During development, particular emphasis was placed on automating recurring technical and administrative tasks as far as possible.
These include:

automatic data backups
automatic data checks
month-end and year-end receipts
centralised data management
synchronisation of multiple workstations
centralised product and price management
sales and employee statistics
server-side backups of cash register data

The cash register can use an A-Trust Online-HSM certificate to digitally sign receipts. This eliminates the need for additional local signature hardware, such as a signature card or a corresponding card reader.
