Development and implementation of a fully integrated management system for handling energy communities at all levels for the Energy Partnership Austria.

The system includes all technical components and workflows required for the management, data analysis, and billing of an energy community.

• Member and role management
  Management of participants (producers, consumers, prosumers), role assignment (e.g., producer, member, administrator), and automated onboarding workflows.

• Grid area and substation mapping
  Assignment of each energy community (“substation cluster”) within the respective grid area, automatic detection of substation affiliation, and formation of regional clusters.

• Meter data acquisition & data pipeline
  Import, validation, and storage of 15-minute load profiles (smart meter/DSO data). Real-time and batch processes for data processing.

• Clearing & billing module
  Processing of generated and consumed quantities: allocation, balance calculation, and billing per member and aggregate. Consideration of generation, self-consumption, surplus, and external supply.

• Portals and dashboards

  • Member portal: display of real-time or daily consumption and generation data, allocation overview, and invoice overview.

  • Registration process for new members: a convenient, user-friendly online workflow for quick and error-free registration of new members – including automatic validation and grid area assignment.

  • Operator portal: management of master data, monitoring of allocations, data quality, and reporting.

• Integrationen & Schnittstellen

  • Energy Link integration: automated communication with grid operators via the central Austrian Energy Link platform.

  • ERP/billing systems: interfaces for financial/accounting systems and payment service providers.

  • Data export/reporting: standardized reports and audit logs for authorities and internal control.

• Workflow automation
  Automatic triggering of events: new membership → data import → activate allocation; month change → billing run; errors in metering data → feedback to DSO.

• Security, scalability & performance
  Architecture optimized for large data volumes (15-minute intervals × thousands of participants), high data throughput, multi-tenant capability for regional clusters, role-based access controls, and audit-proof data storage.
